H. Dieter Heinz, Analytical Research Chemist, developed
in the 1960s simple test methods now recognized as standards,
to determine the hazards of Unknown spilled solid &
liquid chemicals.
His 5-step Method provides the necessary information
to select proper protective clothing and monitoring equipment
to safely mitigate a hazardous materials incident. Dieter is continually
updating his method to make it easier and better for today's world.
The identification of unknown solid and liquid chemicals
in the field is very important to the Safety of the Responders
and the Environment!
HazMat Responders from the Federal, State &
